IBHS FORTIFIED Programs: Resilient Construction Solutions

The FORTIFIED standards are voluntary construction and re-roofing programs designed to strengthen homes against severe weather events, including high winds, hurricanes, and tornadoes. These strict construction standards were developed by the Insurance Institute for Business & Home Safety after decades of research and have been proven to better withstand the damaging effects of a changing climate, protect personal property and allow homeowners to return to their homes after a disaster. This session will highlight the crucial role of the insurance and construction industries in assisting communities to build resilience and mitigate the impacts of natural disasters. Attendees will learn new terminology, tools, and solutions to effectively advise homeowners on how to reduce their risk of loss. Attendees will also learn about the growing number of insurers as well as national, state, and local governments that are adopting the FORTIFIED standards and the opportunities this is providing.
